Northfield Historical is a free app that puts Northfield, Minnesota history at your fingertips. Developed by the Center for Public History + Digital Humanities at Cleveland State University, and implemented by St Olaf College, the Northfield Historical Society, and Carleton College, Northfield Historical provides an interpretive view of the City of Northfield and the St Olaf and Carleton campuses. Find interesting people and places in Northfield, from the St Olaf and Carleton campuses, to downtown Northfield and the sites of the James-Younger Gang raid in 1876. Youre even able to take curated historical tours of the city. Each site on the interactive GPS-enabled map includes historical information about that specific location, along with images from archives held by the partner colleges and the Northfield Historical Society. Many sites also include audio clips and short videos about the site, including oral histories. This project has been generously funded by the people of the State of Minnesota through a Minnesota Historical Society Heritage Partnership Grant.
